According to the city of Whittlesea 6.3% of the North’s population is disabled, this was a vast percentage increase from 2016. It is critical to emphasise that some of these individuals may even suffer from severe impairments. However, the significance of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and its approach to disability has made things a lot easier. Especially through our business where we provide our participants accessible information to services within our community, but also strive to supply equal opportunities for them.
For example, recently I have had an amazing experience with this 10 year old girl who moved from Queensland, who struggled finding the perfect support service. Eventually, she found out about it and I became her support coordinator. Not only was I able to make her feel more confident, but she was also able to achieve a passion for swimming. Many people with disabilities may share the same experiences and inspiring stories as her, highlighting how a disability is an opportunity for growth and achievement with our service!
